Lemony Goodness

This is the most exciting freebie I've found in a while: a free sample of Tropical Chewy Lemonhead & Friends. I'm probably so pumped because I've been candy-free since early January and am pretty much salivating over any candy right now, but I have always loved Lemonheads (and anything sour, for that matter). So I will be anxiously awaiting their arrival in my mailbox, and will break my no-candy streak — all in the name of investigative reporting, of course.

Fly for $39

I'm a huge travel aficionado, but I'm an even bigger cheap travel aficionado. That's why I'm pretty excited about all this $39 business the airlines have going on right now. You have to buy the tickets by today, though, so if you want to go somewhere on the cheap, act fast!

Southwest's deals are good for one-way travel from March 15 through May 25 and, from Dallas, will get you to Amarillo, Austin, Harlingen, Houston, Kansas City, Little Rock, Lubbock, Midland/Odessa, New Orleans, Oklahoma City, San Antonio, and Tulsa. Travel's valid except on Fridays and Sundays, and there are a couple of small fees not included in the $39. Tickets must be purchased by 1:59 a.m. (Central time).

American Airlines' deals are also good for one-way travel from March 15 through May 25 (Fridays and Sundays excluded), but read the fine print for embargo dates. Destinations include Austin, Lubbock, and New Orleans. Tickets must be purchased by 11:59 p.m. (Central time).

The Campisi family has been serving its wonderful thin crust pizza to Dallas for over 50 years. When I worked in downtown Dallas, one of my favorite things was that the downtown Campisi's location was just a short walk away.

The Campisi's in downtown Dallas serves up a complimentary pizza buffet during happy hour (5 p.m. to 7 p.m.) Monday through Friday with a purchase of an alcoholic beverage. And the drinks are VERY reasonably priced. Okay, so it is not 100 percent free, but this is pretty close since all you have to do is buy a drink. If you work in downtown Dallas and want to have a nice happy hour before heading home, stop by Campisi's downtown location for a drink and some great complimentary pizza.

I have also heard this same deal is available at the Frisco location, but have not tried that one out yet.
